Hiking the Cami de Ronda: Cadaques to El Port de La Selva

Last summer, my friend Maureen told us about a hike her friend had done in Spain, called the Cami de Ronda. where we interested?  Of course we are! So that Sunday afternoon I start doing some research, create a trip in Triphub and add some hikes and hotels to the trip board. We talk about it more during some of our weekly hikes. In November we decide on dates, and I start mapping out the routes and hotels along the way. A year after our first conversation, we are about to embark on hiking de Cami Ronda:  Cadaques to El Port de La Selva. Day 6, August 27, 2025. 7 miles, 1,200 feet elevation.

48 hours in Barcelona

This summer, we are hiking part of Cami de Ronda (route SR92), the old road from Tarifa in southern Spain to Port Bou in France, now turned into a popular hiking trail. We fly into Barcelona and decide to spend the first 2 days here, before starting the hike. 48 hours in Barcelona, and we pack in a lot. We have a direct flight from SFO to BCN. We land at 1.40pm and take the Aerobus from the airport to Plaza Catalunya. From there it is a short – although hot – walk to hotel Rialto, conveniently located in the Gothic neighborhood. We take a quick shower before heading out. We have things to do and places to see.

A lunch in Porto to remember

It is mid October and the last day of our trip to Northern Portugal. We spent a few wonderful days in Porto followed by a another few in the Duoro wine region, where we had lot of great food and wine. This morning we drive from our fantastic house in Santa Marinho do Zezere back to Porto. For the final day, I have booked a special restaurant: Casa De Cha Da Boa Nova. A famous 2 Michelin star restaurant: we are in for a lunch in Porto to remember.

3 days in Magical Olympic

I have been going to Seattle regularly for work for over seven years, however I had still not taken the chance to combine a work trip with a trip to Olympic National Park. Until now….I have to be in Seattle in the middle of July, the perfect time to extend my stay and make it out to the Olympic Peninsula for 3 days in magical Olympic. Olympic National Park has it all: a glacier, a rain forest, waterfalls, mountains, lakes and a beautiful rocky coastline.
