Chasing Waterfalls in Yosemite

Mandi got us a permit for Yosemite this year. I have been coming to Yosemite for many, many years and in every season. It is mid-May, and they had the biggest snowstorm of the year only two weekends ago. I have never seen the waterfalls this big. We have two and half days, from Friday through Sunday and we want to maximize our time and do as much as we can. So, on Friday, we drive straight into the park via HWY 120, destination Hetch Hetchy. We do a 7-mile hike to the Wapama falls. After, we drive to the Valley and have dinner at the historic Ahwanee hotel. On Saturday, first thing is driving up to Glacier Point and from there, down to the Valley floor, where we park at the Yosemite Valley Lodge. From here, we spend the day exploring the Valley. On Sunday, we drive from our hotel in Yosemite West, to Wawona followed by a hike to the Mariposa Grove to see the big Redwood trees, before returning home. A perfect weekend trip chasing waterfalls in Yosemite.

Magical Iceland: Hot Springs, Volcanos, Glaciers And Waterfalls

We had planned a reunion with friends from the Netherlands in Iceland in 2020, but COVID threw a wrench in that. So we decided we would make it happen for Thanksgiving 2021.

During my last trip to Iceland in March 2015, we ended up in a full-blown snowstorm for 4 days. I was hoping for better luck in November. The trip was everything I had hoped for and more.

We hiked the magical world of Iceland: hot springs, volcanos, glaciers, and waterfalls. All stayed in a beautiful house and had great food. Unfortunately, didn’t see the Northern lights this time, so a reason to come back.

Canyoning in the Sydney’s Blue Mountains

An exhilarating day of hiking a canyon, rock pool jumps and a waterfall abseil.

Life is short, take a jump

Because Sydney has so much to offer when planning our trip, we created a list of things we wanted to do. That list included the traditional sights like the Opera house, the Harbor Bridge, Manly Ferry ride and Bondi beach, but also a couple more adventurous options. One of those adventures was canyoning  in Sydney’s Blue Mountains. Because I had done a couple of canyoneering trips in Zion and really enjoyed it, we decided that this was just up our alley. However we did not realize that we were about to take our adventures to another level.
